Marie Powell has been an artist on the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington State for many years. She is a full-time artist, creating her beautiful original prints, pastels, oils and mixed media work. After extensive study with renowned painter and printmaker, Royal Nebeker, Marie has focused on printmaking, producing vibrant original monotypes. Marie divides her time between the Pacific Northwest of the United States, and New Zealand, and is represented by fine art galleries in both countries. Her work is influenced by the people and environments of both countries. Subjects included coastal themes, floral designs, forest and foliage, and the human form; ranging from representational to total abstraction. Her unique style incorporates strong contrasts, vivid colors, collage, and varied printmaking techniques including wood block, solar plate etching, and monotype.
